Privacy Policy

• Player name. The name you type when joining a game. It is shown to other players in that game and on leaderboards and results. Please don’t use your real full name or personal details.
• Anonymous identity. We create a temporary anonymous account for your browser (no email or password) so you can rejoin a game and so answers can be tied to the right player. It is stored in your browser.
• Gameplay data. The games you join, your answers, scores, rank, and when you were last connected.
• Chat messages you send during a game, and any player reports you submit. Mutes stay private to you.
• Technical data. Standard request information such as IP address, browser type and device, used by our hosting and security systems to deliver the site and prevent abuse.
• Contact form. If you write to us, we store your name, email address, subject and message so we can reply. To block spam we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser, and we keep a one-way hash of your network address (not the address itself) to limit repeated submissions.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (see below).

• To run games: matchmaking, timing, scoring, leaderboards, chat and reconnection.
• To create the shareable result page you choose to copy and share.
• To keep the game fair and safe, including moderating chat and handling reports.
• To maintain, secure and improve the service, and to review game history for support and auditing.

We don’t sell your personal information.

We store small items in your browser: your anonymous session, your last-used player name, and a note of any game you are currently in so you can rejoin it. These are needed for the game to work.

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to measure traffic and how features are used. It may set cookies or use similar technologies and collect information such as pages visited, device and approximate location, and it is processed by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before analytics cookies are used.

When a game ends, your result (name, rank, score, correct answers, category) can be viewed by anyone who has your result link. The link is a long, random address that isn’t listed anywhere — but anyone you send it to can forward it. Don’t share it if you don’t want your result seen.

• Other players in your game see your name, answers’ outcomes, scores and chat messages.
• Service providers that host and operate Trivia Match, including our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our hosting provider (Vercel), Cloudflare (spam protection on the contact form), and Google (analytics). They process data on our behalf.
• Authorities or others where we’re legally required to, or to protect the safety and rights of players and the service.

Game records, results and chat are kept so shared result links keep working and so we can review reports and fair play. Anonymous player identities have no email or other contact details attached. You can ask us to delete data associated with your games by emailing us (see below); we may need your result link or game details to find it.

Trivia Match is intended for players aged 13 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, or to object to or limit certain processing. To make a request, or to ask any privacy question, email support@triviamatch.net.

We use access controls, encryption in transit and server-side validation to protect data, but no system is perfectly secure. Our providers may process data in countries other than your own.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest version. Continued use of Trivia Match after a change means you accept the updated policy.
